HARD Haunted Mansion 2011 Review (Friday Only)

For three years in a row now, I've gone to HARD Haunted Mansion, usually leaving satisfied, tired, and in awe. This year that wasn't so much the case. Although two acts saved the entire night for me, I have to admit that this years' HHM was a bit of a disappointment. Of course this review is somewhat partial because I didn't attend Saturdays' festivities but I still believe it has relevance. I hope you enjoy what you read.

Major Lazer - Original Don

Not often do I post about unreleased tracks, as speaking about what you can't have can get rather exhausting. But Major Lazer gave me a reason to break my routine with their new upcoming single Original Don, set to release November 1st. Mixmash Records have been on fire lately with massive releases from GTA, Laidback Luke, and now label newcomers Blink, Gianni Marino & Metsi. This trio made a banging original titled Bahasa. Really big drop that reminds me of Turbulence. Its' great but just seems like I've heard it before. The GTA remix however is a different story. Emphasizing mainly on the Big Room feel of the original, GTA successfully remixes it into a Dutch House masterpiece. Zeds Dead recently released a new EP on Mad Decent featuring the banger Rumble In The Jungle. Everything from the tropicool intro to the first appearance of the kick drum are just ace.  It captures a unique junglesque groove and runs with it successfully. Moombahton is by far my favorite genre at the moment. The perfect blend of Reggaeton rimshots and Dutch House leads is exactly what I want to hear when I step foot into a club. An impressive EP by Jake Leonardo, a DJ/producer from new york who seems to know what's up when it comes to producing a quality track.  Once again I am trully impressed with this EP specifically the tracks : Brazil & Get Freakin'.  Sadly, the new track Brazil could have been an amazing track if only he cleaned up the vocals or just took them out completely.  It seems to me that this new upcoming producer just might have the talent to pull off a track that'll blow our minds soon enough.  Support the artist here!

Afrojack - Bubblegum

Once again the almighty Afrojack pulls off another insane track! Not sure how old this tune is, but hot damn does it hold its' own even in todays club scene. I don't know how this guy produces so many tracks that are all just flat out bangin', and Bubblegum is no exception.  I've got mad respect for this 24 year old prodigy, I wonder what kind of genre he'll be into when he reaches his 30's.  Support Afrojack here!
